We hope you got a long weekend! And if you did we hope it was relaxing and restorative! Candie disassociated for the weekend, and I went to Ohio to see some family! Nothing extraordinary but it was a nice break!

Sage Advice

This week we are going to get cleaning in the witches pantry!

According to Llewellyn’s 2024 Magical Almanac herbs healing and magickal potency wanes the minute you harvest it. Best case herbs can last 1-2 years, and spices 2-3.

So now is a good time to go through your herbs and check the viability of your stock. Ask yourself:

• are they holding their color?

• is the scent faint or nonexistent?

• is there evidence of bugs? Do they looked chewed?

Foraging or buy fresh herbs are best, and you can then choose the best way to dry them. Like hanging to dry, dehydrating with a dehydrator, or using the oven on a low temp.

If you are going to buy use a small scale supplier so you know a better time of when they are harvested so you can get the best use out of them.

Once they are dried preserve them in something airtight. Like vacuum sealing or canning. Tip: if you don’t have a dark place to store them use something that reduces light exposure. And be sure to mark and date them!

Once you have freshened up your herbs, give your pantry a good cleaning with intention. Start in the eastern corner and work clockwise.

Night Sky: New Moon & Venus at greatest brilliancy

The moment of the Taurus new moon will fall at 19:31 UTC (2:31 p.m. CDT) on April 27, 2025. New moons rise and set with the sun. It’s the 3rd of 5 new supermoons in a row for 2025. And it’s the closest new moon of the year.

Venus is bright all month. April 27, 2025, it will reach its point of greatest brilliancy in the morning sky. After late April 2025, Venus won’t appear this bright to us again in the morning sky until November 2026. But it remains a bright morning object through the fall of 2025. The brilliant planet will lie above the much dimmer Saturn and Mercury. Mercury might be difficult to spot so low in the bright twilight.
