Knoxville Sage Newsletter #25

This week in magick!

Greetings, Magickal Souls!

Here comes summer friends!! Although I am a big fan of winter, mostly the silence of a snow covered ground, I cannot deny the sound of the birds, the light of the sun, and the flowers bursting out every where make my heart feel lighter! My biggest issue, especially here in TN is that it gets too darn hot! So I usually admire all the beauty while indoors! But you might be able to find me outdoors soaking up the Solstice sun on Saturday at the Moon Market! See you there?

On Metaphysical Science degree news. It is slow going. I love to learn all the things, but have trouble finding time and attention for all the things! But I am still very excited to learn. I am currently working though the first lesson on Psychic Skills! Which at the top of my to learn and to do list!

I can’t wait to see what all the classes hold!

Sage Advice

This week we celebrate Litha! It is a modern pagan holiday that celebrates the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. It is observed between June 20 and 22 in the Northern Hemisphere.

At Litha, the Goddess is in her Mother aspect. She is radiant, fertile, at the height of her creative power, and carrier. She is also the embodiment of the Empress tarot card.

Litha Symbols

  • Colors: Gold, yellow, orange, red, green, bronze, white

  • Crystals: Citrine, sunstone, amber, carnelian, tiger’s eye

  • Animals: Stag, bee, eagle, butterfly, lion, horse, rooster, firefly

  • Flowers: Sunflowers, roses, marigolds, calendula, daisies, chamomile

  • Plants: Basil, rosemary, lavender, lemon balm, mint, mugwort

Here are some Litha celebration ideas:

  • Watch Sunrise & Sunset Live from Stonehenge

  • Make Litha recipes. Make recipes using, strawberries, vegetables, and produce in the colors of the season.

  • Make and wear a flower crown: Use sunflowers, marigolds, or calendula.

  • Spend the day in nature.

  • Host a bonfire or do candle magick.

  • Create a Sun catcher: Make a sun catcher or herbal wreath to hang in your window. These serve as reminders of the sun’s protection.

  • Gather Herbs: The power of the sun is at a peak, making the morning of Litha a good time to harvest summer herbs.

  • Decorate your Altar with Flowers: Bring in some of the summer abundance with fresh flowers and use these to refresh your altar.

Since Litha is a good time for some candle magick let’s discuss this weeks colors:

  • Black

Is useful in spellwork relating to grounding, focus, survival, protection, independence, banishing, binding, separation, protection and increasing assertiveness and confidence.

The color black absorbs energy, so it is also useful for drawing spells.

  • White

Is for Spirituality, Peace, Higher Self, Purity. In candle magick it is also the universal color if you don’t have a specific color for the spell you are doing.

Using Color Magick is a pretty easy practice. You can either imagine yourself bathed in that colored light that you want. You can dress in the colors of the vibes that you need. You can also just infuse that color or energy into any spell you want to perform.

It is the summer solstice. The earth rejoices in abundance and light, and so do we.

Night Sky: Moon and Venus

Shortly before sunrise on the morning of June 21, the thin waning crescent moon will lie near brilliant Venus. Then on the following morning, June 22, a thinner crescent moon will float between Venus and the delicate Pleiades star cluster. Also watch for the glow of earthshine on the unlit portion of the moon. That’s light reflected off Earth.

Adopt Your Next Familiar

Holy guacamole those ears!! Meet Cheyenne a 3-year-old Pitbull. She greets everyone like a long-lost friend, tail wagging and heart wide open. While she’s still working on her dog-to-dog social graces, Cheyenne would currently thrive as the only pet. So if your thinking of adopting and your ideal day includes cozy cuddles, joyful chaos, Cheyenne might just be your soul dog.
