Knoxville Sage Newsletter #44
This week in magick!

Greetings, Magickal Souls!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! I hope you have had a fabulous October! It always stinks when it ends! I suppose November is “just as good” with it’s beautiful leaves and crisp air.
If you are a baseball fan, Go Dodgers! 🤣
When I go about my week, I think hey I should mention that in the newsletter. But I also think I’ll remember it I don’t have to write it down.. Now here we are, writing the newsletter and I don’t remember a thing I wanted to mention!
As part of some house cleaning, I would like to say we would appreciate you “donating” to our buy me a coffee page. We work hard to curate the items in this newsletter, and want to be able to continue to grow and bring community. So if you are so inclined. And as soon as we figure out some tiers/gifts you will be the first to get them! Support us Buy Me A Coffee
Sage Advice
Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “sow-win”) is a pagan festival rooted in ancient Celtic spiritual tradition. It’s celebrated from October 31 to November 1 to mark the harvest and welcome “the dark half of the year.” Celebrants believe that during Samhain, the barrier between the physical and spirit worlds breaks down, allowing greater interaction between humans and the Otherworld.
Ancient Celts marked Samhain as the most important of the four quarterly fire festivals, held midway between the fall equinox and the winter solstice.
Celebrate Samhain by:
Writing a letter to a deceased loved one - If you believe in an afterlife, now is the prime time to send a message to someone you love on the other side.
Write a letter and burn it in the cauldron.
Or, simply talk out loud honestly about whatever you’re feeling or want to say.
Make Your Own Candies - Not only does homemade chocolate taste amazing, the pure ingredients are healthier than the junk found in store bought candy.
Host a Dumb Supper - a more elaborate or traditional way to celebrate your connection to those beyond, serve a dumb supper. This is a traditional Wiccan tradition in which places are set for the deceased, and the living attendees eat in silence.
Try Your Hand at Divination - The “veil between worlds” is at its thinnest this time of year. That makes it prime time for trying scrying, tarot cards or other divination systems. Try something new and see what happens!
You may also want to “celebrate’ El Día de los Muertos, or All Souls Day around this time
All Souls’ Day, in Roman Catholicism, is a day for commemoration of all the faithful departed, those baptized Christians who are believed to be in purgatory because they died with the guilt of lesser sins on their souls. It is observed on November 2
El Día de los Muertos is a day to honor and commemorate the lives of the dearly departed and to welcome the return of their spirits.
Set Up an Ancestral Altar - Create a sacred space in your home to honor your ancestors. Start by setting up an altar with photos, candles, and items that remind you of those who have passed on. You can also include offerings of food, drink, flowers, or anything they loved in life. Your altar acts as a symbolic bridge between the two.
Visit a Cemetery - A simple but powerful way to honor the dead, visit a cemetery. Walk or sit among the graves, leave flowers, clean a headstone, or meditate. Many cemeteries double as green space and can be a quiet place for you to connect with nature if you live in a busy city.
Leave offerings for Spirit - Samhain is seen as a liminal time, when the boundaries between our world and the Otherworld blur The Sidhe and spirits of the dead are believed to roam more freely, and people would leave out offerings like bread, cream, or ale to keep them appeased. If you feel called to do the same, you can leave a small plate outdoors. Just keep it wildlife-safe and avoid chocolate and alcohol. A little milk, honey, or homemade bread is plenty.
Host a Dumb Supper as mentioned above.
However you are called to celebrate the souls of those who have touched your life, do it as YOU see fit, not just to fit a societal or ritual requirement. Enjoy the connection and the season.

Summer has come to an end. The ancestors knock on the door. May they bring PROSPERITY and HEALTH to you and yours ever more.
Night Sky: Moon, Saturn and Fomalhaut
On the last evening of October – on Halloween – the waxing gibbous moon will float near Saturn and the star Fomalhaut.
Fomalhaut, aka Alpha Piscis Austrinus, carries the nickname the Loneliest Star. That’s because Fomalhaut is the only bright star in a wide stretch of sky.

I mean, look at that face!!
Ramen is 70 pounds of wiggly, floppy, oversized-puppy energy. Ramen thinks life is one giant playdate, whether that means bear-hugging people or bouncing around with doggy friends (he’ll need a buddy who can keep up with his jumbo zoomies). With patience, structure, and lots of love, Ramen will grow from a loveable noodley mess into the best boy ever.
