I hope you are all staying warm! I am happy I got a little snow! Not as big of a fan of the ice that came with it in some places! Since a lot of places closed early, or didn’t open at all, as things start to warm up be sure you visit all the small shops to help them recover from my beloved snow days.

Sage Advice

As we did out of the winter weather, we have this weekend to look forward to! Imbolc is Sunday to Monday.

Imbolc has ancient Celtic roots and is associated with the goddess Brigid. The focus of this sabbat is to welcome the return of the light and set intentions for the coming spring season. It has inspired other holidays Groundhog Day and the Christian holiday of Candlemas or St. Brigid’s Day.

Brigid the fire goddess is connected to fertility, springtime, and prophecy. Celtic celebrations worshiped her at Imbolc with fires and by hanging a Brigid’s Cross above doorways to protect against lightning and fire.

Ways to celebrate Imbolc:

• Plant seeds. 

• Make Brigid dollies or Brigid crosses. Here’s how to make a Brigid cross.

• Bake oatcakes and leave butter and beer outside for Brigid on Imbolc eve.

• Decorate your altar with colors and symbols related to Imbolc.

• Walk or be in nature. 

• Do a candle ritual and set intentions for the season.

• Write poetry. Brigid represented poets and poetry.

Night Sky: Young Moon

The February full moon will occur on February 1, 2026. Crest of the full moon falls at 4:09 p.m. CST.. Look for the bright, round full moon climbing in the east around sunset as twilight falls. The moon will glow high in the south near midnight and drop low in the west before sunrise on February 2. It will also appear fairly full on the evenings before and after the full moon. The moon will glow near the brightest star in Leo, Regulus. If necessary, block out the moon’s glow to help spot Regulus.
